To help set high standards of behaviour that CR professionals should aspire to, CRG has created a Code of Conduct for Corporate Responsibility Professionals, which you can find here.
The code has been created by CRG in consultation with its members, as well as other key individuals and organisations in the corporate responsibility arena. The aim of the Code of Conduct for CR Professionals is to provide support for CR practitioners, as the individuals employed to foster responsible business practice within their businesses.
The new code is principles-based to provide guidance on the spirit of actions, rather than specific behaviour. It aims to be a reference point and support for professionals where there is an issue that company guidelines can't help with, or where there is a clash with a practitioner's personal values.
The Code of Conduct for CR Professionals outlines expected standards of behaviour for CR professionals working within CRG member businesses, but CRG also encourages other CR professionals in non-member businesses to follow it.
Here, CRG deputy chair, Yogesh Chauhan, talks more about the launch of the Code of Conduct for CR Professionals.
Like CR itself, we expect the code to evolve over time and would be very interested to hear your feedback, particularly if you have experience of using the code over the coming months. Please do get in touch with the CRG secretariat, with any comments you might have.
